Brooke Cottrill is a singer/songwriter/pianist who has recently released her debut CD, No Princess, which is available on iTunes. Brooke was the featured artist in a recent issue of Graffiti, West Virginia's premier entertainment magazine. Brooke has performed at the West Virginia Italian Heritage Festival, the Meadowbrook Mall, Buffalo Wild Wings, WV Public Theatre shows, Downtown Disney at Disneyworld, the Bridgeport Farmer’s Market, and Jackson Square. She has performed at these venues either as a solo singer/pianist, or with her rock band, The Barracudas, the Bridgeport High School Jazz Band, or the Blue Girl Quartet. Graffiti magazine wrote that Brooke "sings with a maturity and vulnerability that is quite rare.... We think that the world will be hearing great things from Brooke Cottrill." While a vocalist and pianist for the Bridgeport High School Jazz Band, the Jazz Band won the state’s highest distinction of WV State Honor Jazz Band in 2011 and 2012. Brooke was named outstanding jazz soloist for her vocals at the Busch gardens "Music in the Parks" competition in May 2013.
In a review of Bridgeport High School’s senior play, the musical, The Drowsy Chaperone, Lindsey Dawson wrote that Brooke, in the role of The Chaperone, "practically steals the show." In 2012 Brooke earned the highest possible rating of “superior” for her vocal performance in a musical theatre duet at the WV Thespian Festival which qualified her to compete at the International Thespian Festival in Lincoln, Nebraska, where she again earned an overall “superior” rating. In 2013 she was selected to the All Festival Cast for the Region 3 Drama Festival. She has also written a song “Name” as part of the original One Act Play, Fair Lilith.
